Loving, in theaters November 4, tells the true story of the appropriately named Loving family, Richard and Mildred (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who were persecuted in Virginia in 1958 for being interracially married. They were jailed but fought back in a battle that made it all the way up to the Supreme Court, which overturned their conviction as unconstitutional.

In this clip, watch as Richard defuses what could possibly turn into a tense family dinner with some good-natured humor. Check your favorite theaters to see when and where it will play near you.
