This weekend’s Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising joins a legacy of movies celebrating the humor – and, sometimes, the horror! — of college Greek life. But before you rush out to see the sequel to 2014’s hilarious hit Neighbors, we want to know which big-screen fraternity or sorority you’d like to rush. To assist you in the decision-making process, here’s a breakdown of some of our favorite fictional Greek chapters.

 

Delta Tau Chi Fraternity

Featured In: Animal House (1978)

Unofficial Motto: “You can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals.”

Membership Requirements: Must love beer, women, motorcycles and song

Hazing Rituals: Getting woken up and sprayed down with a fire extinguisher in the middle of the night

Party Type: Boozy with an uninvited psycho and twinkly lights

LAMBDA LAMBDA LAMBDA COED FRATERNITY

Featured In: Revenge of the Nerds (1984)

Unofficial Motto: “We have news for the beautiful people: there's a lot more of us than there are of you.”

Membership Requirements: Traditionally, African-American; in the movie, nerdy.

Hazing Rituals: None — these nerds went through enough trying to pledge Alpha Beta!

Party Type: Michael Jackson “Thriller” style with surprise bovine guests!

Gamma Phi Gamma FRATERNITY

Unofficial Motto: “Wanna be better than you.”

Membership Requirements: In Spike Lee’s social satire of black college-campus life in the 1980s, it’s light-skinned blacks with a general apathy for politics and social issues

Hazing Rituals: Head shaving; spoken-word poetry formations

Party Type: “Da Butt” homecoming dance party

Most Famous Alumnus:  Big Brother Almighty Julian, played by future Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito

Omega Beta Zeta SORORITY

Unofficial Motto: “Drink with your brain.”

Membership Requirements: Faux sunny demeanor; pastel wardrobe; willingness to stay sober in order to drive your tipsy sisters home from a keg party

Membership Requirements: Men of all ages looking to relive past party days; enrollment at nearby Harrison University not a requirement
