Jennifer Lawrence Might Stay in the X-Men
For a while, the Oscar-winning actress has stated she's done playing Mystique in the X-Men movies following this summer's X-Men: Apocalypse. But just when she thought she was out, Fox could be pulling her back in. On the set of the new movie, she told Empire, “I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on anyone’s shoulders."
As the magazine notes, that doesn't mean she will be in more X-Men movies. She just wants to. Maybe she figures she should do as many X-Mens as Hunger Games installments. Or she's just having trouble walking away. Perhaps she can get some advice from her American Hustle costar Christian Bale, as he's one of the very few actors lately to quit a superhero character role.
Tom Hiddleston Might Leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Given the reputation of Marvel's villains, the studio should want to hold on to the one fans actually really love, but Loki can't be in every MCU installment. And maybe he'll only be in one more, as it turns out. While promoting his Hank Williams biopic, I See the Light, Hiddleston let it slip to the Daily Beast that next year's Thor Ragnarok "will be my last time out of the gate."
The statement came after he admitted he's looking forward to returning to the character, which he hasn't played in four years, since shooting Thor: The Dark World. But after being asked to clarify he won't be in Avengers: Infinity War, Hiddleston quickly backtracked to say, "I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along."
Maybe he won't be in either part of Infinity War. Maybe the accidental spoiler here is that Loki dies in Ragnarok so it has to be Hiddleston's final appearance as the Asgardian menace. Of course, that wouldn't necessarily mean anything since comic book movie character deaths are never forever. But most comic book movie character jobs do seem to be.
