Need Weekend Cocktail Conversation? Here's This Week's Biggest News in Music
We’re here to give you a few bits and bites (quite literally—read on and you’ll understand) of this week’s music news to inspire your weekend cocktail party chat. Because who wants to have meaningless small talk at all of the holiday parties you’re forced to go to? Not us! Here’s what went down in music this week:
Eagles of Death Metal Are Going Back to Paris: The brave band members announced their rescheduled European dates, now named the Nos Amis (our friends, in French) Tour. The band will be back in Paris on February 16 at The Olympia. Find the rest of their tour dates on Pitchfork.
Azealia Banks Was Arrested: While many of us were sitting at home comfortably braless, Azealia was denied entry to a Manhattan nightclub on Wednesday night and reportedly retaliated by biting the bouncer’s…boob. Ouch.
Chance the Charitable Rapper: After releasing new music on last week’s Saturday Night Live (listen here!), Chance continues to impress his fans this week, revealing his partnership with EMPWR coats and launching Warmest Winter, which aims to raise $100,000 to provide 1,000 coats to the Chicago Homeless. Rita Ora Is Feeling Orphaned: Ora filed a lawsuit against Jay Z’s Roc Nation for feelings of abandonment. “When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist,” states the complaint. “As Roc Nation’s interests diversified, there were fewer resources available and the company suffered a revolving door of executives. Rita’s remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company.” Read more on The Hollywood Reporter.
2015 Round Ups: All kinds of top 2015 lists have been released (have you seen ours yet?), New York even went as far as to defend the honor of the roundup in this week’s issue (LOVE that). Below are a few of our favorites. A few albums that everyone can agree on? Kendrick, Jamie XX, and Tame Impala. We dig.
