Steve Carell / Bryan Cranston / Laurence Fishburne

Last Flag Flying: Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne will star in Last Flag Flying, to be directed by Richard Linklater. The movie is described as "sort of" a sequel to Hal Ashby's The Last Detail, a 1973 drama about two salty Navy veterans who take a young sailor on a road trip to prison. The original was based on a novel by Darryl Ponicsan, who wrote a sequel in 2005 about the same characters retracing their trip. [THR]

The Intern

Live Fast Die Hot: Anne Hathaway (above in The Intern) will star in Live Fast Die Hot, based on a recently published book of essays by writer-actress Jenny Mollen. The book tracks Mollen's change of priorities when she became a mother for the first time. [Deadline]

Crisis in Six Scenes

Crisis in Six Scenes: New photos from Woody Allen's upcoming series Crisis in Six Scenes reveal Miley Cyrus as a hippie, which makes sense since the series is set in the 1960s. It follows a middle-class family that is turned upside down by a guest. Allen and Cyrus star alongside Elaine May. Allen wrote and directed all six episodes; the show will debut on Amazon on September 30. [Variety]
