Review: Down In A Hole by Kiefer Sutherland
No. Way. Kiefer Sutherland has just released a country album called Down In A Hole.
OK, first of all, I didn’t know the award-winning actor who famously played Jack Bauer on the TV series 24, sings! And country music? I’m a country music fan and I can’t believe I didn’t hear about this earlier.
Before we go on, let’s address the elephant in the room. Can Sutherland sing?
Actually, yes. He has a great gritty and gravelly tone, which gives off a charming worn out vibe perfect for wistful and lament-filled tunes.
And he does just that, singing songs about hitting rock bottom on the title track and learning to love himself again, after regretting the person he has become in My Best Friend.
Meanwhile, in Not Enough Whiskey, he talks about feeling miserable after his lover has walked away, and Truth In Your Eyes sees Sutherland coming to terms with the death of the love of his life.
The 49-year-old actor-turned-singer took a risk with debut release Down In A Hole, and it paid off.
Down In A Hole
Kiefer Sutherland can sing!
