World, meet Raven Baxter’s kids!

Casting is underway for the just-announced That’s So Raven spinoff, and E! News has exclusive intel on the new characters we’ll meet when the as-yet-untitled series debuts in 2017.

The show follows the two pre-teen children of divorced mom Raven (original star Raven-Symoné, who is also producing the new series). One of the kiddos has inherited Raven’s ability to see glimpses of the future. Those children are:

Nia, Raven’s bold and confident daughter who frequently finds herself in over her head. She’s well-intentioned and won’t give up when she sets her mind to something (even if it gets her into trouble), and always wants to help people and do what’s right. She just started middle school and is great at science (though average in other subjects)—and her life gets way more complicated when she suddenly gets the power to see visions of the future.

Booker, Raven’s sweet, naive younger son, a young Donald Glover type. He’s gullible and innocent and in no rush to grow up—and is an unapologetic mama’s boy. He won’t do something bad unless he’s tricked into it (which is pretty easy to do), but will stand up for himself when he finally catches on to what’s happening.

Raven announced in late October that she’s leaving The View at the end of the year to work on the new series. There’s no title yet, but she’s calling it That’s So Raven 2. “I’m just so excited,” she said.

“Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world. Her performance in That’s So Raven is timeless,” said Disney Channels Worldwide executive vice president of original programming Adam Bonnett in a statement when the news was announced.

“We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we’re looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family.”

Production is scheduled to begin on the new series in early 2017.
