The Fashion Fund Docu-Series to Premiere This Month on Amazon
If you’ve been thirsting for a new fashion documentary to add to your streaming queue, you’re in luck. The third season of The Fashion Fund premieres on Amazon on February 25—and it’s going to be good.
This year’s series highlights the twelfth group of designers to participate in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and documents their process through the esteemed program, which has been encouraging the success of young American brands since 2003. Designers such as Alexander Wang, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler and Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte famously came through the fund, which is headed by Conde Nast Artistic Director and Vogue Editor in Chief, Anna Wintour, CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg, and a cadre of industry titans, such as J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons and Theory founder, Andrew Rosen.
So watch closely as young designers such as Jonathan Simkhai, Becca McCharen of Chromat; Jonathan Simkhai, and the adorable Aurora James of shoe brand Brothers Vellies drape, sew, and, yes, cry their way through rigorous challenges to win the grand prize of $400,000, and $150,000 to the two runners up. As all things fashion go, it’s bound to be chock full of chic surprises, like the fact that Simkhai was a competitive cheerleader back in the day—guess that explains all of those stretchy clothes!
