The Originals Just Killed Off Another (Yes, ANOTHER) Main Character–Or Did They?

Nobody is safe on The Originals if they’re not a member of the Mikaelson family, as we saw in the penultimate episode of season three.

Unfortunately, as we learned in the episode, Davina (Danielle Campbell) is really, truly dead. Well, at least to the mortal world—there is so much communication with dead people on this show and The Vampire Diaries that we’ll totally see her again, right?!

And that’s not all—we also said goodbye to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). MARCEL! Or did we?

While it seemed that Elijah (Daniel Gillies), a.k.a. typically the most even-keeled of the Mikaelson brothers, killed Marcel (the good ol’ heart punch, a tried and true Mikaelson family method), at the end of the episode we found out that wasn’t the case. Marcel had taken the serum to turn into a super-beast so the Mikaelsons would think he died—but he is very much alive and definitely seeking revenge on the family.

Do you think he’ll show mercy when he finds out how mad Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was about the whole thing, since despite the trouble the two have had in the past, Marcel is still very much like Klaus’ son?

Oh, and that isn’t even the last crazy thing that happened in the episode—because Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah finally hooked up again (guess Elijah’s grief over killing Marcel has stripped away any pretenses they are not completely meant to be).

What did you think of The Originals death? How scared are you of Marcel’s revenge? And if we’ve had several straight weeks of major characters dying, how on Earth will the season finale be able to top these past episodes?

The Originals finale airs next Friday at 9 p.m. on the CW.
