The highly anticipated live-action remake of Ghost in the Shell debuted a series of 5 10-second teasers last night during the latest episode of Mr. Robot, and based on this small sampling of snippets, it looks like it's going to be a very faithful adaptation in terms of its visuals, as if aiming to re-create shots exactly from the 1995 anime version.

Together the handful of glitchy clips make the movie seem dark yet stunning. We see a few scenes with Scarlett Johansson as the Major, a cyborg policewoman, and Takeshi Kitano appears in another as Chief Daisuke Aramaki. Others show off fantastic production and costume design for the sci-fi action flick, which is being helmed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman).

Here is the official synopsis for the movie, which is also an adaptation of an earlier manga:

Based on the internationally acclaimed sci-fi property, Ghost in the Shell follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Ghost in the Shell hits theaters on March 31, 2017.
