Similar to Deadpool, the first John Wick was this unassuming R-rated action movie starring Keanu Reeves that took the genre world by storm when it debuted at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. Here was this gritty, no-holds-barred assassin movie from a couple of first-time directors whose experience running stunts on other major movies (like The Matrix) worked in their favor when it came to delivering a well-choreographed action movie where you could actually see the action.

John Wick grossed $86 million worldwide on a $20 million budget, so of course you give that sucker a sequel! And because the first set up this rich mythology featuring a world where the deadliest assassins have this hotel they all hang out at, there's a lot you can do when it comes to more stories… or chapters, as news confirms John Wick: Chapter Two (new title) will hit theaters on February 10, 2017.

Which brings us to something else it now has in common with Deadpool, other than being a badass surprise from a first-time director and starring a veteran actor who could use a hit — its release date. John Wick: Chapter Two is wisely slipping into a release window recently shared by other R-rated action movies like Kingsman: The Secret Service and, yes, Deadpool.

Expect that pre-Valentine's Day weekend to feature some crazy R-rated action movie for at least the next few years. As for John Wick: Chapter Two… not much is known except that it follows the continuing adventures of certified badass John Wick.
